Movies

Movies are much better than TV. I love them for many reasons, but one of the more prominent reasons is the simple fact that there are no commercials. It’s so much better that way, there’s no one trying to sell you something every 11 minutes in a loud voice, telling you that you NEED the product. Some recent findings suggest that a section of the population (teens) are watching less TV than the previous generations have because they’re too busy surfing the internet. I’m afraid, though, due to this change, that the ads that aren’t getting to the target market are going to be transferred to the medium of film.
Picture this; an action star postpones a car scene chase to tell you the benefits of Sprint Mobile or using Microsoft Vista or even Mac, then resumes the story, but lets the camera take a good, long look at the back of the car he’s using, which is the new Dodge Thrust (yes, Thrust… I’m sure they’ll make a car with that name soon, Dodge likes their cars to sound manly.) and drives away past the Scotia Bank, which has a large ad on the window that is visible to the audience (Now with better insurance rates!!)
Wouldn’t that disrupt your movie experience? Of course it would. It’d be like watching tv, which is what we don’t want. Or at least, what I don’t want. Then I’d have to go watch plays to get a good story. At least Hamlet doesn’t promote deodorant…
On a lighter note, 7 days untill Christmas!
Cheers!
